24 karat Gold iPad 2 launched in Dubai by Gold & Co.
Its the Sheikhs who first began the style of bling with their love for gold, so it makes sense to release a 24-carat gold plated iPad 2 in Dubai where it all began. Obviously this iPad is completely over shadowed by the one that Stuart Hughes released a few days back or the shiny diamond encrusted iPad from Harrods ; but we are sure that Gold & Co. of London will have something to bait us with too.
The device costs 20,000 dirhams (5,500$) and already there have been six orders for it. Gold & Co are pros at making gold plated devices ; they have previously done the same for the original iPad as well as iPhones and iPods. However they did have trouble with the new design of the iPad 2. The original iPad was easier to gold plate said a spokesman since all the pieces unclipped.
Its a sign of the frugal times that even luxury items are becoming cost savvy. So while Stuart Hughes and Harrods indulge the multi-millionaires ; this poor rich mans toy allows the rest of us to experience luxury on a budget.
The Gold plated version of the iPad 2 was unveiled at the the Dubai Women’s Exhibition in Jumeirah and will be on display until Thursday.
