Black Francie features on covers of a limited edition Vogue

The July edition of Italian Vogue created by Franca Sozzani is a special Black issue with a collector Barbie supplement paying tribute to Barbie in a limited edition of 2000 copies. The Black Barbie, Black Francie who entered the market in 1967 is not the traditional Barbie with blonde, wavy hair.

Franca has dedicated this issue to black models that have been successful in fashion and art and also put images of Barbie. Black Francie, the first black Barbie was introduced 1967 and then her friends Christie and Julia and eventually the first “Black Barbie” was introduced in 1980.
