  • The Australian Princess with her $250,000 Tiara

    | Posted in Jewellery

Few realise that Australia is still a monarchy and not a republic nation. The Royals of England still rule (at least as titular heads) over this vast nation and are featured on the currency in the same way as the Union Jack is on the Australian Flag. Little wonder then there was a lot of hysteria down under when Her Highness visited. A Perth Jeweler took it upon herself to craft a 18 carat diamond tiara to commemorate the Queen’s visit to Western Australia.

The tiara which was months in the making, barely made it to Australia from Israel (where it was crafted) on time before the royal visit. Fiona Hoang , owner of Stefan Jewelers who made the tiara said that the inspiration was her four year old daughter – Isabella (seen in photo) who dreams of being a Princess and loved the royal visit.

The tiara was crated by artisans who specialise in such jewelry and have the requiste experience having also worked on the Royal Family’s crown jewels. The tiara contains 650 white diamonds set in 18 carat white gold to ensure the sparkling effect.

The crown is currently in Ms Hoangs possession and she plans to show it to the public soon. A great way of garnering some publicity – if we may be so bold to say so.
