Steve Jobs Portrait goes for $210,000

Not even Ron Hubbard can boast of a cult whose followers worship their founder. Apple fanboys however have no such qualms when it comes to their leader / guru and idol Steve Jobs. Nothing else can explain the price that this portrait of Steve Jobs just sold for.

Created by artist David Datuna (the same guy who made the Putin Mona Lisa) , the portrait Viewpoint of Millions is created from a background patter of thousands of miniature images of author Ayn Rand. Ayn’s philosophy is said to have deeply inspired Steve in his life and this portrait is an attempt by the artist to pay a tribute to both Ayn and Steve.

The portrait is placed under a wall of optical lenses (nearly 80,000 of them) which completes the illusion that you are looking merely at Steve. A close look determines that the portrait is in fact made up of thousands of photos of Ayn Rand.
