We never knew that Gere was such an avid music lover. Just one of his guitars – a 1960 Gison Les Paul fetched nearly $98,500 almost 10,000$ more then the estimate. The entire collection that Gere owned which consisted of 107 guitars sold for a collective $936,438 – almost a million dollars.

Richard Gere Guitar Collection
Gere claims that he simply bought guitars that he liked, he never thought about creating a collection – but its just what he ended up with. The entire proceeds from the auction will be donated to causes and charities that he supports.
Other notable guitars that were part of the collection included a 1958 Gibson Flying V that sold for $74,500; a 1931 Martin D- 28 that fetched $62,500 and a Gibson ES-335TD with Sunburst finish that went for $9,500. A lot of the guitars that were on sale were classics and would have sold for the same price irrespective of the fame of the owner. It seems Richard had a ear for his guitars.
