We have heard of millionaire drink parties before. Most notably that of Jay-Z with a $200,000 bar tab or Mel Gibson and Petra Ecclestone with a $250,000 tab. Or even the Boston Bruins who celebrated their Stanley Cup win with drinks that totalled upto $156,000. But none would come close to this un-named financier who blew $315,820 on a spending spree at a night club.
We have no idea what the financier was celebrating, but he was certainly in a mood to splurge. Beginning with a bottle of the Armand de Brignac Midas champagne which itself set him back by £125,000 (what do you know, prices of the most expensive champagne have increased since we last wrote about it!). The millionaire then went on to spend a further £80,000 oon all sorts of other alcoholic drinks for his friends.
The bill including a £18,500 tip came to £203,948.80 making it the most expensive bar tab in the world (a record previously held by a certain gambler). The millionaire apparently deals in currency trading and must be having a great day since he handed out glasses of the Armand de Brignac champagne to all and sundry inthe VIP room. The trader who was in his late twenties even ordered 40 bottles of Ace of Spade champagne and handed them out to single women in the club. Clearly this is one generous millionaire who knows how to party. We do wish that someone would step up and name him – we would love to do a feature on this guy!
If anything is evident about people who manage money, it is that the task attracts a very low level of talent, one that is protected in its highly imperfect profession by the mystery that is thought to enfold the subject of economics in general and of money in particular. —
