Amitabh Chandel, a designer by profession but a gentleman who can trace his roots to one of the most prominent royal families of India has created a £60,000 ($93,000) shirt. The high cost of the shirt can be attributed to its being made entirely in silk, embroidered painstakingly by hand and then buttoned up with 25 high value solitaire diamonds and gold.
The shirt according to Mr. Chandel (India does not officially recognise royalty since Independence) is a practical everyday wear fit for the nobility. Unlike attire that is simply created to break records, Amitabh promises that his shirt is definitely practical. Depending on the individual and his needs, the shirts are customised. Prices begin from 600 pounds and go upto 60,000 pounds. The price depends on the use of diamonds and gems.
The designer also promises to have the shirt delivered free of cost – provided you are within 200 miles of his workshop. Any further and you will need to pay the airfare for a door step delivery. After spending 60,000 pounds on a shirt, we doubt any buyer is going to scrimp on the delivery charges. Needless to say, the cost also includes a tailor landing up at your door step to ensure a customised fitting.
We have to admit though , that despite all the most expensive clothing that we come across. Such as the $300,000 T-shirt and the $100,000 suit ; this shirt seems to be the only ‘shirt’ falling in this range. So shall we call it the most expensive shirt of all times?
