Gold Encrusted Chinese Liquor for $46,000
In a nation that is famed for its drinking appetite – a gold encrusted bottle of Chinese liquor is selling for as much as $46,600 (298,000 yuan). The bottle is actually available from a supermarket in Guangzhou city of the Guangdong province.
The liquor – Wuliangye is apparently a famous brand of traditional Chinese liquor and is created using a secret five grain recipe that dates back hundreds of years. The base and cap of the bottle are made with 180 grams (0.4 pounds) of pure gold which costs $11,250 by itself. The rest of the cost is that of the liquor which would mean that it costs a stunning 70$ per milliliter (1 ml = 0.03 ounces).
