Sold for a record £60,000 ($95,000), the Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve whisky is for true connoisseurs. It is the third bottle of 11 bottles from 1955 that are to be sold to the general public. The single malt now holds the record for being the most expensive whikey sold at an auction.
The 11 bottles are being released to honor Janet Sheed roberts who at 110 years of age was not even born when the Glenfiddich distillery was founded. The 125 year old distillery was established by William Grant (Janet’s grandfather). Each bottle celebrates a decade of Janet’s life. We had earlier wrote about this limited edition where we expected the whisky to sell for £30,000 a bottle. Janet is also the oldest person in Scotland.
The sale was made at a charity event on New York’s Liberty Island. Part of the proceeds from the sale will be used for charity.
