Yuri Gagarin is certainly breaking records. After being the first man in space, he can also be said to be the man who has been on our pages for the third time in as many days. First there was the Montegrappa Limited Edition Watch and then the spaceship that served as a test vehicle (sold for 4 million dollars). And now comes the Gagarin Tourbllon watch designed by Bernhard Lederer.
Cased with Platinum, there shall be a mere 50 watches of this series. The beauty of this particular tourbillon is that it rotates around the face of the watch in exactly 108 minutes – the same amount of time that Gagarin remained in orbit. The bridge that holds the tourbillon looks like the statue at Gagarin’s landing site celebrating the momentous flight.
In addition to a sapphire crystal embedded into the watch, its also got engravings about things said during the flight.
