The sole suppliers of tires (tyres since its the Poms who made these) to this prestigious event in the UK since the past 30 years – Cooper tires asked London Jewellers FK Diamonds to design these wheels to celebrate their diamond anniversary of association with the F3 Championship.
The owner of FK Diamonds said that setting diamonds on a tire was certainly different from what they were otherwise used to be doing. A Cooper logo template was used to place the diamonds within and then each jewel was stuck to the tires individually. A strong adhesive was used to attach the letters to the tires. Diamonds as well as Swarovski crystals were used for creating these bejewelled tires. The blinged out set of wheels were later bolted on to the race car of Carlin driver, Rupert Svendsen–Cook.
Julian Baldwin, Managing Director of Cooper Tires Europe, commented on the special occasion: “The Cooper and Avon brands have been involved in Formula 3 for half of the entire existence of the series in Britain. The diamond anniversary is huge landmark for Formula 3 and we are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with one of the most important single-seater championships in the world.”
